I need medical guidance and advice for my wife abnormality case(congential hip dislocation) as detailed?

Hello,





I, SABER ISMAIL AL-TAMIMI a resident of State of Kuwait, need medical guidance and advice in the following matter for my wife.





She is,36 years old, complaining severe pain in her hip right joint. Followings are some of the findings in medical examinations carried out locally in State of Kuwait.





1. NEW MOWASAT HOSPITAL, Kuwait. Dated – 04.09.06 %26amp; 06.05.07


Report states that presently she starting limping and suffering from lumbar pain and right hip pain, X-ray exploration shows secondary logic scoliosis, old dislocation of right hip and compassion sign on left hip, which will lead to coxalthrosis. She was advised to reduce heavy activities and control her weight.


As per X-ray %26amp; CT scan study – A high position of Right Femur Head, 5 cm above its place with no evidence of NEO-ARTICULATION.


2. Department of Radiology, Ministry of Health, Kuwait, dated 01.05.07


Remarks- Known case of congenital dislocation of Rt.hip joint, the femoral head is hypoplastic and displaced posterouperiorly articulating with ilium, No destructive changes in same. Acetabular cavity is hypoplastic and shallow, No evidence any effusion. Mild hypertrophy of soft tissue around femoral head and neck. But gluteal muscles are atrophic. No loose bodies. Left hip joint is normal. No evidence any dislocation or degenerative changes.





In view of the above reports you are kindly requested to clarify the following doubts-


1. With reference to above reports what kind of operations required to be performed?


2. Can you suggest / recommend some good expert hospitals (specialized centre) %26amp; doctors which can carry out these operations round the world?


3. Is present age of my wife is right age to carry out the operation as she complaining severe pain at present?


4. We enquired that the artificial hip join lasts for15 years and can be changed one time only after first fixing. Is there any advanced / latest technology which lasts more than 15 years?


5. How much time it will take to complete the operation?


6. What will be the healing time after operation?


7. What will be the success rate of such kind of operations?

Your wife should lose weight and then, if she is fit enough, she should have a hip replacement. After 15 years she can have another one if she needs it. The operation takes a couple of hours, she will spend 8-10 days in hospital, then it will take another 3 months before she can walk normally again without crutches or sticks. One year after the operation she should be fine. The success rate is very good, especially in younger people. The operation can be carried out in Kuwait, there is no need to travel abroad. These operations are among the most common orthopaedic procedures.
